Microsoft Employees Disrupt Wii U Best Buy EventsRemember how Nintendo was showcasing some of their E3 games at participating Best Buy stores around the country? Well, apparently Microsoft employees have been hired to go to these events and preach about the Xbox One and make comments like "why would you buy a outdated Wii U when the Xbox One is right around the corner?"
However, the employees aren't getting what they hoped for. Most customers just start bashing the Xbox One in response. Seriously, Microsoft, the people attending these Best Buy Wii U events are people who are intimately familiar with the crap you pulled at E3. They ain't takin' your shit.
At first I thought this might just be a case of one really loyal Microsoft employee taking matters into his own hands (especially since the original source was /v/), but reports have come in from numerous Best Buy's around the country that indicate many Microsoft employees have ambushed the demo lines trying to persuade people to switch to the Xbox One.

Please Pants Responsibly (Paper Notebooks FTW)

There are two ways to write a novel. Plotting (you make an outline, a plan, a roadmap if you will, and then you sit down and write it) and pantsing (you write "by the seat of your pants, throwing caution to the wind). So when I get asked if I'm a plotter or a pantser, I'm all like er, uh, hold on, let me? Pantser? I think? But I kind of, um, do planny things?
And it gets kind of awkward because in these inarticulate moments I have managed to confuse everyone including myself. And probably spilled a drink.
In recent discussions, however, I've had a bit of a revelation, silly as it is. I've realized that I -- like many writers -- am a plotter/pantser hybrid. And perhaps what I'm doing is something we could call Pantsing Responsibly. And, maybe, just maybe, I could share some of my responsible pantsing tips with other writers. The Used Game ParadigmOver the course of this past generation I've been watching the video game market react to the way it's been forced to deal with increasing changes. I've come out against used game sales and even written a journal about boycotting GameStop because (like most people at the time) I believed they were the root cause of all the problems the video game industry has. But that's something I don't believe now as intently as i did then. From where I sit, piracy and used games sales are a problem, but not in the way game companies want us to believe that they are.
Used games are a good thing for consumers. We get to try games out, and if we don't like what we see or finish it early, we trade it in and try another title instead. It's a very good system for us since video game rentals are much harder to come by. Most video rental stores in America have gone extinct and outside specific Red Box Kiosks there aren't a lot of places for consumers to rent video games. The exception, of course, being thr

SPIKE updatesJust thought I'd share with you guys some updates on the progress of finishing my "SPIKE" novel.

I've been really busy, sorry. Work leaves me with little personal time and I'm always tired. :/

I'll post a new journal this weekend sometime and I'll try to catch up on messages/notes.

Updates

I won't be very active for a while because I'm having trouble with my computer. It overheated and shut itself off. I don't want to keep it on too much because it might permanently damage my other hardware. I have to take some time to assess what's wrong with it and then I'll see what I can do. It might require a new part or something. Or maybe it just needs to be cleaned. I need my dad to help me with it.

In the meantime, my grandma's letting me borrow her laptop. It's just really awkward to type on.

As for the job, I had an interview today. They called me on Monday. It didn't seem to go very well, and I didn't think I was going to get the job. They said they would make their final decision next Wednesday, so I figured I had a week to suffer before I got the bad news, but that's not the case. They called me today around 4:00 PM to say I got it. I was shocked. I'm so happy to be working again.

I start on Monday. In the meantime, I need to figure out how to fix my computer. I also need to get used to working, so I'll be tired and coming around here less till I get used to that.

So much is going on! :o Thanks to ~silentpair for being so patient, loving, understanding, caring and a million other wonderful things. If it wasn't for him, I would be completely miserable by now. But I'm not. I'm happy and I loveseses him.
